SSS Palaver: How Ekpenyong was replaced with Daura as new DSS boss

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday sacked the Director General of the State Security Service, Ita Ekpenyong.
NUJ Europe published a lengthy submission of investigative reportage obtained from a security and cryptology expert,Dr Idris Ahmed on evidence-based atrocities committed by the Director of State Security Services (Click here for evidences), known as DSS in Nigeria.. Reasons for the sack of Ita Ekpenyong may not be unconnected to the the submission.
The President went on to appoint Lawal Daura as the new head of the agency. Evidences of crime perpetrated by the outgone DSS boss delayed Buhari move into Aso Villa, according to the report.
 "While Nigerians have been wondering why President Muhammadu Buhari has not moved into the official residence, Aso Rock Villa; information reaching NUJ Europe through Dr Idris Ahmed, a cryptology expert and founder of Citizens United for Peace and Security (CUPS) revealed that the ex army general is flushing out some life threatening equipments in the place."
"We gathered that the Department of Secret Service (DSS), led by Mr Ita Ekpeyong hired an Israeli security company to plant bugs throughout the presidential villa to enable him and his cronies monitor all the activities of the first family and government decisions.
This spy objects for monitoring the President was carried out by one Widi Liman, who was a former personal assistant to the DG and now the President Administrative Officer at the villa, from where he can monitor his surveillance equipment and report back to his boss." Mr. Ekpenyong's removal and the subsequent appointment of his replacement was announced by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, via a statement by the Director of Communications in his office, Haruna Imrana.
Daura, who retired in 2013 was recalled to be the new Director General by President Buhari on Thursday 2nd of July, 2015. Daur  was born in Daura, Katsina State which incidentally is Buhari's hometown on August, 5, 1953.
He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1977 – 1980.
He started his carrier in the State Security Service in 1982 and rose to the rank of Director.
He was at one time the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre, at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007.
He also served as State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.
He attended various professional courses both home and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS) Kuru.

The appointment is with immediate effect.
