Alaafin of Oyo Marks 45 On The Throne, Coronation Anniversary Activities Start From London! (Pictures)

Every 14th of January is the day of the official investiture of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, The Alaafin of Oyo.

Back to history,18th November 1970, was the actual day Prince Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi was consecrated as The Alaafin of Oyo Empire by Colonel Adeyinka Adebayo, Governor of the old Western Region. It was the day Oba Adeyemi was invested with the insignia of royalty, on his succeeding to the Sovereignty. This was shortly after the Nigerian Civil War.

To commemorate this auspicious occassion, series of activities have been lined up, kicking off from Tuesday in London.

Alaafin, while landing at the famous Gatwick Airport, was received by officials of the Nigerian High Commission and some well-meaning sons and daughters of Oyo. After a short official reception for His Imperial Majesty at the Airport, Alaafin was taken to his residence at Marlin Stratford, 2 Millstone Close, London, E15 1PE, Great Britain.

On Tuesday, the 1st December, 2015, Kabiyesi, Honourable The Prince Skimeh, media practitioners in the United Kingdom among who are Barrister Lamzat, the publisher Lamzat Blog Worldwide, Prince Lashley Oladigbolu, and other members of the entourage visited The North Greenwich-02 Arena.

Alaafin and the Prince were also live in Sky Sports studio_ where Alaafin made a global call to all Yorubas to hold on tenaciously to the cherished OMOLUABI etiquet they were known for. The Prince, being a sports lover, also spoke on the importance of keeping fit always.

On Wednesday, 2nd December, there will be a media parley.
This include:
(1)- Live programme on Oodua Voice Radio at Forest Gate Hall, Suite 5,  London E7 9AB.
(2)- One-on-One Interview with PODIUM ( Titi Aboyade Cole)
On Thursday, 3rd of December, The Alaafin will pay a royal visit to the British  National Museum, in the city of London Westminster and thereafter  a live programme will be held in his honour on BEN-TV with the topic Culture And Festival: Manifestation of The Yorubas.

However, this trip is a double-edged sword. Firstly, it provides a rare and golden opportunity for Yorubas across the globe to meet and tap from Alaafin Iku Baba Yeye's wealth of enormous cultural endowment. An uncommon gift many custodians of tradition and culture are devoid of.

Secondly, His Majesty and The Prince will be meeting with some stakeholders in the British education sector for a symbiotic discourse; which will inadvertently translate to the advancement of education in Oyo Federal Constituency and Nigeria in general

This visit, according to the honorable member, will definitely be a replica of what was obtained during Kabiyesi's last visit to the State of Maryland in the United States where medical experts were brought to Oyo for free medical treatment for more than seven thousand (7,000) people on barrage of ailments troubling them.

''On the celebration, what Kabiyesi and his entourage have come to do in the UK is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what will be done in Oyo Alaafin, be rest assured. An elaborate and lush celebration will be put in place'' Honorable Adeyemi re-assured.
